I am very happy if people will negotiate what other rules they would need to want to participate as well as to clarify where they want diferent contant at the mother webs. The main web system I use costs $35 a year per web so its not difficult to imagine that major cties will also want to set up their own branch web or of course a free blog - either of which we will happily linmk from the top of the mother web.

Obviously some of our constitution needs double checking with for example the 100000 bangladeshi's and other Gandhians who are the main practical exemplar of the values we seek to network worldwide so that the future sustains 7 billion brilliant jobs and goodwill multiplying across all women, children and even men.

We wish to learn from each city's most successful ways of mobilising and cross-cultural celebration, as well as metods for ensuring that any action network actually reaches to those in most desperate need of its service. This is one of the big lessons of bangladeshi experience -reiterated by every micro-system designer in bangladesh we have interviewed - once a networks starts empowering the entrepreneur inside it will never get deeper than the deepest needsholders it begins with. The Algal Bioenergy Consortium (ABC), University of Cambridge, UK, involves a large multidisciplinary group of scientists who aim to use algae for a number of different applications in the bioenergy industry. This consortium brings together molecular biologists, physiologists and engineers to work towards optimising algal bioenergy for commercial exploitation.

Land-based bioenergy crops create serious economic and environmental concerns, which include the sequestering of huge areas of arable land or ecologically sensitive regions (such as rain forests) for their growth, the introduction of competition to food production, and a concomitant increase in the price of staple food. In contrast, aquatic-based large-scale algal culturing facilities can be sited on any land, including waste or industrial sites.

Bio-diesel from microalgae is being looked upon as a possible remedy to global warming and increase price of gas. There are strains of algae such as Botryococcus braunii, that have a large content of oil (lipids) which can be used as fuels. Microalgae can produce many times more oil per hectare of land, or even per ton of water, than higher plant vegetation, such as Jatropha or even palm oil. Use of bio-oil ensures net-zero carbon emissions, thereby keeping a check on the global warming issue. Other algae such as Chlamydomonal reinhadtti , whose genome has been recently sequenced, known to produce hydrogen under certain environmental conditions, providing another, longer-term, approach for alternative fuels.

Algae display a remarkable degree of metabolic versatility, with many species able to produce long-chain liquid hydrocarbons that require minimal processing to be used as fuel; essentially these algae produce and excrete diesel! They can also divert photosynthetic energy into another ready-to-use fuel, hydrogen. In addition, algal growth can be directly coupled to other industrial processes, in particular the scrubbing of CO2 from flue gas and the removal of nitrates and phosphates from wastewater, which not only has a cost benefit, but can reduce the carbon footprint of industrial processes.

However, there are still many technical difficulties which need to be understood in order to deploy algae for mass production of biofuels, Bio-fuel from algae is one of the many potential solutions that requires investigation to simultaneously tackle both the crises of both energy supply.

The overall aim of ABC is to improve the flux from photon to fuel. We are currently investigating a number of different algal bioenergy applications:
The production of biomass and biodiesel, with concomitant sequestration of CO2 from flue gases, and treatment of wastewater.
Use of cyanobacteria for the production of bio-photovoltaic panels.
Algal hydrogen production.

Sir David, whose distinguished broadcasting career spans more than half a century, says everyone has a responsibility to act: "What people (must) do is to change their behaviour and their attitudes.

"If we do care about our grandchildren then we have to do something, and we have to demand that our governments do something.

His comments came as a UK parliamentary body, the All-Party Environment Group, issued a report labelling the government a "climate laggard" for its record on reducing emissions.

Sir David, whose natural history programmes have been watched by millions of people around the world, is the latest high-profile figure to say the world is facing a climate crisis.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams; the government's chief scientist Sir David King, and former Royal Society president Sir Robert May have all expressed public concern on the issue.

This week, former US Vice President Al Gore (all, news) has been at the Cannes Film Festival to promote a documentary on climate change.

Mr Gore told festival goers that the world was facing a "planetary emergency" due to global warming.

Please could our world service be one of British Character we can feel both pride and humility in searching for. People need to be able to see the resolution of map that supports the level of detail they are working at

People should always be invited to annotate (in pencil) over (their version of) a map extra connections that help make it familiar to them and their peers. However features that everyone enjoys seeing should be chosen carefully. It’s better to have a clean map, as long as its got enough for everyone to feel recognition with it than being crowded to the extent that its friendly to the widest numbers and diversity of user.

Maps are helpful when they compose the best of science and art.

Customisng Map to Life Synthesis

As a start, we imagine that each major project typology will act in part like a franchise, in part like a case history in a learning bank. The people in the first fully applied projects should note as much as practical through series of after action briefings. So that their knowledge can be reapplied. Of course some may move from one similar project to the next, but with worldwide applicability the idea of an open franchise model should be detailed as far as can be communally practiced.
