Genus- Scenedesmus

1) Flat plate of colony of usually 2-4-8(sometimes 16-32) cells which are always in multiples of two.
2) Cells are in various shapes like oval, ellipsoidal, cylindrical arranged in one or two rows and in lateral contact.
3) Smooth or granular cell wall, with or without lateral ridges, or spines.
4)Single and parital chloroplast often filling the cell with a single pyrenoid.
5) Occurs in fresh lentic water bodies of India.
